Description

1955-D WDDO-007 is a doubled die obverse on the 1955-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. An extra eyelid sits close to the normal one, to its south. Obverse markers: strong diagonal and horizontal scratches through the date; a cluster of hair-like diagonal scratches under the chin; a wavering, mostly vertical scratch behind the bust; a series of diagonal scratches above LIBERTY; scratches in several directions under IN; and a light scratch joining the front of the hair curl to TRUST's U. Reverse markers: strong, mostly diagonal scratches through the IBUS of PLURIBUS; many mostly horizontal scratches through the letters of ONE and to their right; many horizontal scratches through CENT's C and E; a series of diagonal scratches laid over horizontal ones right of CENT's T; many mostly horizontal scratches through UNITED's letters, with a diagonal scratch under its N; and a series of diagonal scratches below OF.
