Description

1955-D WDDO-004 is a doubled die obverse on the 1955-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Extra eyelids show both north and south of the normal one. Obverse markers: a small gouge (dot) left of the lower part of the mint mark; a gouge (dot) well south of LIBERTY's B; the master hub die scratches, under LIBERTY's T and behind the head; a short diagonal scratch right of WE's E; a light vertical scratch in the hair below WE's E and TRUST's first T, between them; a long, mostly horizontal, wavering scratch through the lower part of TRUST's S and under its last T; and a short horizontal scratch under that S. Reverse markers: a vertical scratch heading north from the left wheat tip's right edge; vertical scratches running south under ONE's O; nearly vertical scratches between the lower E of ONE and CENT's T; a gouge (dot) right of CENT's T; vertical scratches joining UNITED's N with the lower part of CENT's C; a light vertical scratch under the F of OF; and a nearly vertical scratch joining STATES' second T to AMERICA's C.
