1954 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-001

Description

1954-D WDDO-001 is a doubled die obverse on the 1954-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. An extra eyelid lies below the normal one. Obverse Stage A has parallel scratches heading NNE from the top of LIBERTY's B and parallel scratches heading NE from the top of the date's 9. Stage B is a late die state (LDS), and the Stage A markers can no longer be seen. Reverse Stage A has a small gouge (dot) beside ONE's N at its lower right, a die break on the top of ONE's E, another on the lower T of CENT, and a crack through the lower right kernels of the right wheat stalk. Stage B comes from a new reverse die in a very late die state (VLDS), with a crack running down CENT's T. Bill Wilson submitted Stage A and Brian Ribar Stage B. CONECA lists it as 1-O-IV and Coppercoins as 1954D-1DO-001.
