Description
1953 WDDO-003 is a doubled die obverse on the 1953 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. An extra eyelid shows south of the normal one. Obverse markers: NNW/SSE scratches through the 19 of the date; a series of scratches under GOD's G; a gouge (dot) between the lower parts of WE's E and TRUST's T; a gouge where the upper forehead meets the front hair curl; and a gouge right of the upper eyebrow. Reverse markers: a scratch running from the rim SW of the E of E PLURIBUS; a gouge (dot) left of ONE's O; a gouge left of the right wheat tip; gouges left of UNITED's U and NW of it; and a diagonal scratch heading SE from STATES' second T. Larry Patterson submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
