Description

Doubling shows as an extra eyelid to the southeast of the normal eyelid. Die Markers: Obverse: A large die gouge shows to the right of the top of the nose. A series of light concentric die scratches run through the date area. A short, but heavy die gouge shows to the south of Lincoln’s chin. A vertical die scratch runs in front of the chin. A series of diagonal die scratches show in the field to the right of Lincoln’s forehead. Light, parallel die scratches run SSE from the lower right edge of the S in TRUST. A series of light, concentric die scratches show on Lincoln’s lower lapel and shoulder fold. Reverse: A light, vertical die scratch shows to the right of the left wheat tip. A long die scratch runs south from the second U in UNUM. Areas of die damage show inside the lower opening of the O in ONE. Light, concentric die scratches run through the letters O and N in ONE. A short die gouge and a separate, light die scratch run north from the upper E in CENT.
