1951-D Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-007
Error
Description
A doubled eyelid shows to the southeast of the normal eyelid. Die Markers: Obverse: The obverse is also a minor RPM listed in the Wexler RPM files as 1951-D 1¢ WRPM-105. Vertical die scratches run north from the bridge of Lincoln’s nose. A die gouge (dot) shows northeast of the upper 9 in the date. Concentric die scratches show in the field above the date. A diagonal die scratch runs along the upper tail of the 9 in the date. A series of vertical die scratches show to the right of Lincoln’s mouth. Multidirectional die scratches show through and around the letters ERTY in LIBERTY. Reverse: A series of mostly horizontal die scratches show to the right of the E in ONE. Mostly horizontal die scratches run through the C in CENT. A strong, “X” shaped die scratch pattern shows to the left of the T in CENT. A series of die chips show on the lower right edge of the T in CENT. A die chip shows on the central left wheat stalk northwest of the U in UNITED. A horizontal die scratch connects the lower O in OF with the lower first A in AMERICA.
