Class V doubling shows on the lower letters in LIBERTY. Die Markers: Obverse: Stage A: Vertical die scratches run through the letters T and Y in LIBERTY. Parallel die scratches run northwest from between the 9 and 5 in the date. A series of diagonal die scratches show to the left of the 1 in the date. A vertical die gouge shows between the upper I and N in IN. A faded diagonal die scratch shows southeast of the N in IN. Multi-directional die scratches run below GOD. Light diagonal die scratches run between the lower E in WE and the first T in TRUST. Diagonal die scratches run through the letters UST in TRUST. Stage B: Most Stage A die markers are extremely weak or worn away. Faded diagonal die scratches show below Lincoln’s chin. Light diagonal die scratches show to the southwest of the first T in TRUST. Reverse: Stage A: A series of nearly vertical die scratches show to the right of the left wheat tip. A strong die scratch runs WNW over the upper N in ONE. A strong series of diagonal die scratches show to the right of the E in ONE. Diagonal die scratches show inside the openings of the letters C and E in CENT. Nearly vertical die scratches show around the letters U and N in UNITED. Stage B: Reverse die changed. A series of diagonal die scratches run between the left wheat tip and the E in E PLURIBUS. A die scratch runs south from the lower N in UNUM. A series of vertical die scratches run through the lower E in ONE. A mostly vertical die scratch shows to the right of the T in CENT. A series of mostly horizontal die scratches run through the letters in STATES and the letters ICA in AMERICA.
