Description

Doubling shows as an extra eyelid to the southeast of the normal eyelid. Die Markers: Obverse: The obverse is an RPM listed in the Wexler files as 1951-D 1¢ WRPM-104. A light diagonal die scratch shows in the field well north of the T in LIBERTY. A small die gouge (dot) shows to the right of the upper U in TRUST. A light die crack runs mostly north from the top of Lincoln’s ear where it is met by a second die crack running east into Lincoln’s forehead. A light die crack runs north from the upper left edge of Lincoln’s lapel. A die crack runs west over the top of the V in the VDB initials before turning northwest and running through the back of Lincoln’s bust. Reverse: A die gouge (dot) shows SSW of the P in PLURIBUS. A die gouge (dot) shows inside the opening of the O in ONE. A short die scratch runs north from the upper diagonal crossbar of the N in UNITED. Light vertical die scratches run through the second T in STATES. Submitted By: John A. A strong series of die cracks show NW of the back of the eye and across Lincoln’s temple. A long die crack runs mostly NE into Lincoln’s lower bust left of the VDB initials. Reverse: Die cracks and chips show on the upper E in ONE. A die gouge shows to the right of the lower N in CENT. Heavy die cracks show on the T in CENT.
