1951 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-004

Description

1951-D WDDO-004 is a doubled die obverse on the 1951-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling shows as an extra eyelid south of the primary one. The obverse is also a repunched mint mark, which Wexler's RPM files list as 1951-D 1¢ WRPM-048. On the obverse, a strong series of cracks runs across the temple and NW of the eye's back, and a long crack heads mostly NE into the lower bust, to the left of VDB. Reverse markers: cracks and chips on the upper E of ONE, a gouge to the right of CENT's lower N, and heavy cracks on CENT's T. Frank Baumann submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 2-O-IV.
