Description

Attributed by the Wexler Team as 1950 25¢ WDDR-001 and extensively cross-referenced as CONECA 1-R-IV and Cherrypickers FS-25-1950-801 (019), this Washington Silver Quarter exhibits a strong spread to the east on the eagle's beak, the inner right wing feathers, the left half of the wreath, the arrowheads and shafts, and the talons on the right foot — a comprehensive eastward displacement affecting both the central eagle motif and the surrounding wreath design elements. The CONECA Class IV designation indicates Offset Hub Doubling, where the working hub was displaced laterally during the secondary impression without rotation, producing a uniform directional shift across the entire die face. Obverse die markers include a die crack running east-to-west through the upper hair of Washington's portrait. The reverse shows a die scratch running down the eagle's right wing to the top leaf just to the left of the arrowheads.
