Description

Paired with a distinctive reverse die, DDO-003 on the 1946-S Jefferson Nickel shows medium extra thickness on IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, the star, and the date — the full suite of obverse inscriptions. Die markers UVC-829 and DMR-009 identify the obverse working die. The reverse carries the MMS-002 designation, known as the "Trumpet Tail" variety — named for the S mintmark that flares outward at its lower terminal, resembling a trumpet bell. This pairing provides a secondary attribution checkpoint: collectors can confirm DDO-003 by matching both the medium obverse extra thickness and the trumpet-tailed S mintmark.
