1946 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-003

Description

1946 WDDO-003 is a doubled die obverse on the 1946 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Extra eyelids lie directly below the normal eyelid and above it, and GOD WE TRUST shows very slight doubling toward the center. Obverse marker: parallel scratches heading SW from the lower parts of the letters of IN. The reverse is also doubled, a minor doubled die cataloged as 1946 1¢ WDDR-004: the left dot, the E of EPU, and the upper left wheat lines show a very close spread, directed toward the center. Reverse marker: a scratch running south from UNITED's D, at its bottom right, to the top of AMERICA's M. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
