1946 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-020

Description

1946 WDDO-020 is a doubled die obverse on the 1946 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The date and IN GOD WE TRUST show extra thickness and a spread toward the rim. Obverse markers: numerous scratches through TRUST and the date, mostly ESE/WNW; a NE scratch from the upper forehead that ends just below TRUST's U, to its right; a diagonal scratch across the upper ear; and a clash running south from under the chin to the bowtie. Reverse markers: a long SSW scratch from the lower left of ONE's O through the C of CENT and the N of UNITED to the O of OF, and a clash in CENT's C. Darrell Neidigh submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
