Description

Copper-based alloys like the 95% copper alloy used for Lincoln Cents possess physical characteristics that influence how doubling appears on finished coins. Copper is a relatively soft metal that flows readily under the enormous pressure of a coin press, filling die cavities completely and reproducing fine detail with high fidelity.
