About This Coin

The 1945 Philippine Fifty Centavos is a United States cent from the Philippines Fifty Centavos 1903-1945 series — the final year of the series. In 1945, coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint. The obverse features a female figure standing beside an anvil, similar to but larger than the twenty centavos and the reverse displays an eagle above a shield. Produced during World War II, when the Mint altered coin compositions to conserve strategic metals for the war effort. A notable auction result reached $4.9K in MS67+ grade at Heritage Auctions. Designed by Melecio Figueroa.
