About This Coin
The 1903 Philippine Fifty Centavos is a United States cent from the Philippines Fifty Centavos 1903-1945 series — the first year of the series. In 1903, coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint. The obverse features a female figure standing beside an anvil, similar to but larger than the twenty centavos and the reverse displays an eagle above a shield. Produced during the Progressive Era, when President Theodore Roosevelt championed a renaissance in American coin design that produced some of the most beautiful coins ever struck. Struck in silver. A notable auction result reached $5.3K in PR68 grade at Heritage Auctions. Designed by Melecio Figueroa.
