Description

Strong Class VI extra thickness shows on the date, the letters of LIBERTY, and the letters of IGWT. Die Markers: Obverse Stage A: A die scratch extends north from the top of the 1 in the date. A curving die gouge runs north to south at the back of Lincoln’s chin. A die gouge can be found to the right of the center of the center fold in Lincoln’s vest. Vertical die scratches can be found just left of the back of Lincoln’s neck. Die scratches extend south from the bottoms of the 1 and 9 in the date. A die scratch runs south from the underside of Lincoln’s chin. Obverse Stage B: Only the die scratch running north from the top of the 1 remains. The die gouges noted for Stage A also remain. A die clash mark can be found just to the right of Lincoln’s throat and another to the left of the back of his neck. Reverse Stage A: A vertical die scratch can be found between the lower U and N of UNUM. A short die scratch extends NNW from the upper center of the diagonal crossbar of the N in UNITED. Reverse Stage B: The die scratch between the lower U and N of UNUM is gone. Die clash marks can be found between the C and E of CENT and between the upper N and T of CENT. A small die gouge can be found inside the lower left side of the C of CENT.
