Error
Description
1944-S WDDO-023 is a doubled die obverse on the 1944-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. An extra eyelid lies below the normal one. The coin has a Large S mint mark, and the obverse is also a repunched mint mark: an S/S/S East & Serifs that the Wexler RPM Files carry as 1944-S 1¢ WRPM-001. Obverse markers: north-south scratches through the BE of LIBERTY; a scratch heading south from the neck to the bowtie's top; and a long scratch leaving the bowtie's bottom and heading south, to end below the date and left of it. Reverse markers: a north-south scratch low inside the N of CENT on its left; a diagonal scratch high inside UNITED's N; and a small gouge tucked under the upper arm of UNITED's T, on its left side. Thomas Kalantzis submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
