1944-S Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-022

Description

An extra eyelid can be found south of the normal eyelid. Die Markers: Obverse: Serif “S” mint mark. The obverse of this variety is an RPM listed in the Wexler RPM Files as 1944-S 1¢ WRPM-009. It is an S/S West. Two short die scratches below the N of IN and the G of GOD. Die gouge (dot) in the field to the left of the back of the bust. Reverse: Short die gouge inside the lower portion of the first A of AMERICA.
