1944 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-020

Description

1944-S WDDO-020 is a doubled die obverse on the 1944-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. A strong extra eyelid lies SSE of the normal eyelid. Obverse markers: a scratch heading SW from the lower left of the N in IN, and a gouge that curves north to south, from the forehead's top back into the hair. Reverse markers: a scratch heading NE from the bottom right of the E in EPU to the dot; a scratch heading ENE from the bottom right of CENT's E to the lower left of its N; a scratch heading SW from the lower left of the second S in STATES; a short vertical gouge above the N of UNITED on its left side; and a gouge (dot) right of the upper T in UNITED.
