Description

An extremely close spread shows on E in WE and 44 in the date. Die Markers: Obverse: Stage A: North to south die scratches show southwest of the mouth above the beard. A small die crack shows in the hair above the ear. A concentric die scratch shows at the rim under the bust. Stage B: A large die chip is present on the 1 in the date. Die crack in the hair is much longer with a branch down across the back of the ear. Worn north to south die scratches show southwest of the mouth above the beard. Concentric die scratch at the rim under the bust no longer visible. Die gouge above left side of B in LIBERTY. A large die crack runs across the lapel and NW into the shoulder. Reverse: Stage A: Die crack on lower T in CENT. Die gouge SE of S in PLURIBUS. Die gouge inside right side of N in CENT. Stage B: New reverse die. Circular die scratches through ONE CENT.
