1943 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-014

Description

1943-S WDDO-014 is a doubled die obverse on the 1943-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. An extra eyelid lies below the normal one. Obverse markers: cracks through the bust's southwest corner, running SSW, one of them reaching the rim; a crack heading southeast through the lower jacket that splits in two, one branch carrying on southeast and the other turning southwest; and a crack heading ENE from the center of the head toward the point where forehead meets hair. Reverse markers: a crack heading WNW from ONE's O to the rim, crossing the left wheat leaf; a crack heading southeast from the A of STATES, crossing AMERICA's second A and the right wheat before ending at the rim; die damage under the CE of CENT that continues through the NIT of UNITED, over STATES' first T, and west of AMERICA's first A; and a gouge running southeast through the RI of AMERICA.
