1943 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-019

Description

1943-S WDDO-019 is a doubled die obverse on the 1943-S Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. RTY in LIBERTY shows doubling to the south of the letter bases, and the Y also shows it south of its left upright. Obverse markers: northeast-running scratches under the O and between the OD of GOD; NNW scratches behind the head, toward its top; two separate east-west cracks on the base of the bust; NNW scratches on the neck; and NNW scratches under the ear and east of it. Reverse markers: an arrow-shaped scratch pointing NNW at the foot of EPU's E; a die dot high on the right wheat leaf, just west of the kernels; a diagonal scratch linking the D of UNITED with the E of CENT; and a short, strong ENE scratch at the T of CENT, at its base. Daniel Griffin submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
