Error
Description
1943-D WDDO-036 is a doubled die obverse on the 1943-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. A second eyelid lies below the normal one, and the date shows doubling. The obverse is also an RPM, 1943-D 1¢ WRPM-026 (D/D Tilted (Rotated)) in the Wexler RPM Files. Other obverse markers: strong gouges right of the Y of LIBERTY; horizontal scratches running west to east through and below WE; two light NE/SW scratches below the 3; a NE/SW scratch between the 4 of the date and the mint mark; and an E/W crack across the base of the bust. Reverse markers: a crack heading SSW from the bottom of the O in ONE, a scratch heading NNE from the top of the O in OF, and a scratch heading ENE from the lower I in UNITED. Brian Ribar submitted the variety and took the photos for the Wexler Doubled Die Files. Wexler lists no cross-references.
