1943 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-034

Description

1943-D WDDO-034 is a doubled die obverse on the 1943-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Partial extra eyelids appear north and south of the normal eyelid, and Wexler sees possible minor extra doubling south of the Y in LIBERTY. Obverse markers: a long scratch running NE from the front of the eyebrow; a small gouge beside the O of GOD, left of its center; a small gouge just over the 9 of the date, on its left side; a long crack across the bottom of the bust; and a small gouge right of the Y in LIBERTY. Reverse markers: a gouge between the E and S of STATES; a crack from the upper left of the O in ONE north through the first U of PLURIBUS and on to the rim; a small gouge just below the S of PLURIBUS; a short scratch heading SW from the A of STATES, low on its right side; two cracks from the lower left of the O in ONE to the upper left of the E in CENT; a crack linking the tops of the O and N in ONE; a scratch running SW from the top left of the T in CENT; and a large die chip on that T. David Mulberry submitted the variety. Coppercoins lists it as 1943D-1DO-019.
