1943 (D) Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-019

Description

1943-D WDDO-019 is a doubled die obverse on the 1943-D Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The eyelid, the bowtie, the date, both T's in TRUST, and the Y of LIBERTY show a Class V CW spread. On the obverse, three scratches curve NW from the Y of LIBERTY, starting at its top left. The obverse also carries an RPM, 1943-D 1¢ WRPM-015 in the Wexler RPM Files, a D/D South. The reverse is a minor doubled die, 1943-D 1¢ WDDR-013 in the Wexler Doubled Die Files, with light extra thickness on the E PL of EPU, the left dot, and the top left wheat ear. A crack starts at the upper left of the O in ONE, passes the right side of the first U in PLURIBUS, and continues to the rim. Many SW-to-NE scratches lie between the C and E of CENT, and a gouge sits in the upper N of CENT. Paul Funaiole submitted the variety.
