Description

Cataloged by the Wexler Team as 1943-D 1¢ WDDO-011 and extensively cross-referenced as CONECA 3-O-II+V and Coppercoins 1943D-1DO-015, this Lincoln Wheat Cent exhibits a Class V clockwise spread from a pivot at approximately 3 o'clock, visible on LIBERTY and very slightly on the 43 in the date. The CONECA designation 3-O-II+V indicates a combination of Class II (Distorted Hub Doubling) and Class V (Pivoted Hub Doubling) — two distinct hubbing anomalies acting simultaneously, with the CW rotation creating visible spread on LIBERTY as the most prominent diagnostic feature. Obverse die markers include a die scratch running parallel to the rim above IN GOD WE TRUST and a die crack running northwest to southeast across the upper arm to the rim, passing to the right of the V.D.B. designer's initials.
