1941 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-020

Description

Cataloged under UVC-2391 and DMR-042, this 1941 Washington Quarter DDR-020 exhibits a strong northward spread of doubling concentrated on the eagle's beak, arrows, and wreath elements on the reverse. The 1941 Washington Quarter was struck in 90% silver, adding intrinsic appeal to a variety with well-developed hub doubling. Stage progression is documented through at least a Stage B, at which point die cracks appear on the eagle's wing, in the upper hair detail on the obverse, and extending from the bust into the queue — providing stage-specific attribution markers for specialists. The strong north-directional doubling on the beak and arrows is particularly visible under magnification and represents one of the more prominent reverse doubled dies cataloged for the early Washington Quarter series in the VarietyVista reference.
