Description

Listed in the Cherrypickers' Guide as FS-10-1941-101, the 1941 WDDO-001 is among the most widely recognized Mercury dime doubled die varieties. Designed by Adolph Weinman, the Winged Liberty Head or Mercury dime features an obverse portrait whose fine detail provides excellent surfaces for doubling to manifest. This variety shows a strong spread to the north-northeast on IN GOD WE TRUST and the nose, making it one of the more visually dramatic doubled die obverses in the series. Parallel north-south die scratches run through the two dots on the obverse as the primary die markers.
