1941 Doubled Die Obverse DDO-010

Description

Cross-referenced as VarietyVista UVC-1482/DMR-012, the 1941 DDO-010 Lincoln Wheat Cent exhibits light spread as an extra horizontal bar above the last T of TRUST plus extra thickness on the vertical bar. Three die stages are documented: Stage A in Early Die State, Stage B in Mid Die State, and Stage C in Late Die State. A critical feature is the Full T over Broken T Hub designation — this identifies DDO-010 as a hub transitional variety, produced when two different master hubs were used sequentially during die-making. One hub carried a T with full serifs, while the other bore a T with broken serifs. The overlap of these distinct hub designs on a single working die created the visible doubling. Hub transitional varieties are among the most significant doubled dies because they document changes in the Mint's master tooling — each transition leaves a forensic record on dies that received impressions from both versions.
