Description
Cataloged by VarietyVista, DDO-006 is a doubled die obverse on the 1941 Lincoln Wheat Cent from the Philadelphia Mint. The doubling presents as a strong spread appearing as one half extra bar on the right top edge of the horizontal bar of the last T in TRUST. Die stages are tracked under UVC-1478 and DMR-008. Stage A represents early die state, Stage B mid-die state, and Stage C shows the obverse in late die state with a diagnostic die scratch running east-west above N of ONE as the late die state marker. This variety is identified as a Full T over Broken T Hub transition, indicating the Mint was transitioning between hub designs where the T configuration changed between generations. Hub transition varieties document the Mint's tooling evolution.
