1937 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-004

Description

1937 WDDO-004 is a doubled die obverse on the 1937 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. A close counterclockwise (CCW) spread, pivoting at 12 o'clock, shows on LIBERTY and the 7 of the date, and IGWT (IN GOD WE TRUST) and the date show a spread toward the center. Obverse: the horizontal bar of TRUST's second T is broken on its left side; a nearly east-west scratch leaves the U of TRUST at its right center; a short horizontal gouge runs from the middle of the N in IN; a scratch heads NNE off the top of LIBERTY's I; three parallel scratches run SSW from the bottom of its L; and a long NNE/SSW scratch lies right of its Y. Reverse: scratches over the US of PLURIBUS and the second dot; a scratch over the UN of UNUM; a slightly curved scratch joining the upper and lower parts of the E in ONE; and scratches running SSE from the right side of CENT's T.
