1936 Doubled Die Obverse DDO-005

Description

A hub doubling variety paired with a doubled die obverse, this 1936 Lincoln Wheat Cent was documented by VarietyVista. The Full R in LIBERTY designation indicates that the R's serif is complete and unblemished, a condition often noted as a secondary marker on Lincoln Cents. The reverse is listed as DDR-006, creating a dual doubled-die coin. Die markers UVC-1340 / DMR-007 track three stages: Stage A at EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B at MDS (unconfirmed); Stage C at LMDS with the reverse confirmed as DDR-006 at LMDS. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 95% copper and 5% tin-zinc at 3.11 grams and 19.05 mm, the 1936 cent was produced during the Great Depression when Philadelphia carried the bulk of coinage production.
