Description

Documented across an unusually extensive four die stages, the 1936 DDO-004 presents light spread on WE TRUST and the date — a doubled die obverse where the secondary hub impression shifted enough to thicken these elements. Cataloged by VarietyVista with UVC-1339 and DMR-006, the four-stage progression is remarkable: Stage A (EDS, unconfirmed); Stage B (EMDS) with a diagnostic die crack over V.D.B. on the obverse paired with an EMDS reverse; Stage C (MDS on both sides); and Stage D (LDS, unconfirmed). Most doubled dies are documented in two or three stages, making this four-stage record an unusually complete chronicle of a single die's working life. The comment confirms full R in LIBERTY — a well-formed letter without weakness or die fill.
