1935 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002

Description

1935 WDDR-002 is a doubled die reverse on the 1935 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Extra thickness shows on OF AMERICA, EPU (E PLURIBUS UNUM), both dots, and both wheat ears and stems. Obverse: a crack leaves the R of TRUST heading SW and passes through the hair; east-west scratches cross the area between the O and D of GOD, near their tops; two ESE/WNW scratches lie between GOD and WE; and an east-west scratch sits above the W of WE and above and right of its E. Reverse: a gouge inside UNUM's N, high on its right vertical bar; a gouge (dot) left of the top of the E in EPU; and a clash between the bottoms of the C and E of CENT. Frank Baumann submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
