Description

Second cataloged doubled die reverse for the 1934 Washington Quarter, DDR-002 shows medium spread on UNITED STATES OF AMERICA combined with light spread on QUARTER DOLLAR. VarietyVista assigned die markers UVC-0017 and DMR-012, documenting three die stages: Stage A in EDS (unconfirmed), Stage B in MDS (unconfirmed), and Stage C in Late Die State showing a die crack down the eagle's right wing plus a straggly die scratch through the lower portion of LIBER in LIBERTY. The obverse is identified as ODV-001 (Light Motto), indicating a specific obverse die variant paired with this doubled reverse. The 1934 Washington Quarter is only the third year of the series, which debuted in 1932 to commemorate the bicentennial of George Washington's birth.
