1930 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-004

Description

1930 WDDO-004 is a doubled die obverse on the 1930 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. A doubled eyelid appears south of the normal eyelid. Obverse: parallel diagonal scratches running from the front of the jacket toward the date's 3; a series of diagonal scratches running toward the rim above IN; and diagonal scratches running toward the rim between the top of the D in GOD and the W of WE. Reverse: a series of diagonal scratches through the U and M of UNUM; a gouge (dot) beneath the N of ONE, under its left arm; a dot NW of CENT's C, in the field, and a light vertical scratch inside that C; a roughly northward scratch from each arm of UNITED's U; a dot between the A and T of STATES; light vertical scratches through the last S of STATES; a dot above OF, centered between its letters; and a light scratch running south from AMERICA's first A, off its lower left arm. Daniel Griffin submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
