1928 Lincoln Wheat Cent - Atypical Die Clash ADC-1C-1928-01
Error
Description
ADC-1c-1928-01 is an atypical die clash on a 1928 Lincoln Wheat cent, cataloged by Mad Die Clashes. The coin is both a tripled die and a tilted die clash with rotation; Lincoln shows three separate eyelids, which MDC marks with arrows. Below the bust, the partial letters RIBU were clashed into the obverse, and the matching mark on the reverse is a line running through LURIBU. The obverse carries more clash marks than that: part of the N of CENT under Lincoln's chin, part of the E of ONE just left of the date, and a partial C of CENT to the left of the collar. The reverse has no matching marks for these. Because both dies are curved, MDC believes the marks in the middle of the die came from a separate event than the clash under the bust, which would give the coin two clash events. The coin is courtesy of Bob Piazza.
