Description
Bearing a D/D South displacement, this 1927 Denver Mint Buffalo Nickel was documented by VarietyVista with die markers UVC-078 / DMR-003. Three stages: Stage A EDS (unconfirmed); Stage B MDS (unconfirmed); Stage C reverse and obverse LDS. The cataloger requests new color, high-magnification digital photographs. The southward displacement means the initial D landed slightly above the intended position, with the corrective punch establishing the final location lower on the die. Fraser's design was struck in 75% copper and 25% nickel at 5.0 grams and 21.21 mm. The 1927-D had a mintage of approximately 5.7 million pieces, making it one of the lower-mintage Denver dates in the series. Confirmed LDS at Stage C indicates heavily worn specimens from this die are documented, providing the full service-life record for this die pairing.
