Description

Moderate extra thickness shows on E PLURIBUS UNUM, both dots and wheat stems, and the lower letters of AMERICA. Die Markers: Obverse: Several die scratches run about vertical to NNW/SSE in the field well above the T and Y in LIBERTY. A series of die scratches run parallel to the head in the field below the G and O in GOD. A die scratch runs from Lincoln’s upper hair NNE into the field below the E in WE. Light diagonal die scratches show inside the opening of Lincoln’s ear. A series of light about vertical die scratches show on Lincoln’s cheek behind his mouth. A light die crack shows along the truncation of Lincoln’s bust at the rear shoulder fold. Reverse: Two closely spaced die scratches run NNE/SSW right of the edge of upper left wheat lines. A small die gouge (dot) shows inside the upper M in AMERICA. A diagonal die scratch runs NW from the upper last A in AMERICA. Obverse:
