Error
Description
Jim Hart discovered this Philadelphia Morgan dollar in March 2000, and it holds Hot 50 status among Morgan VAMs. Classified 1E IV1 with a D1a reverse, the designation is Pitted Wreath Bow. The reverse D1a die is the defining feature: raised dots appear around the wreath bow, the eagle's right leg feathers, tail feathers, LL in DOLLAR, E in ONE, and Tru in Trust, all caused by a rusted die that transferred the corrosion pattern as raised pitting onto struck coins. A diagonal die scratch runs through the wreath bow as an additional marker. Since 1921 dates were in the master die, no date position variation exists.
