Description

Among at least fifteen reverse cuds for the 1919-S Lincoln Wheat Cent, this thirteenth entry extends one of the deepest cud inventories in the series. Post-WWI economic expansion drove demand for small coinage, and San Francisco struck approximately 139 million cents. Rim fractures result from concentrated striking forces at the die edge where the raised rim meets the collar; a rim cud represents the loss of part of the die's rim gutter, which appears on subsequent strikes as a raised interruption in the design rim that tracks the rim's course.
