1919 (S) Lincoln Wheat Cent Rim Cud and Die Crack (Reverse 4:00)

Description

This 1919 (S) Lincoln Wheat cent displays a rim cud at 4:00 on the reverse with a die crack running inward from the rim cud to the wheat stalk. A rim cud represents the loss of part of the die's rim gutter: on the coin it appears as a raised interruption in the design rim that tracks the rim's course. The attached die crack records a fracture continuing from the rim into the die face. San Francisco struck 139,760,000 cents in 1919, and the date carries one of the deepest cud inventories in the Wheat cent series.
