Description

Four men share the reverse of HK-420: President Woodrow Wilson in the center, Theodore Roosevelt to the left, Col. George W. Goethals to the right, and below them Count F. De Lesseps, over whom a ribbon reads "Honor to the Beginner," each named on a ribbon under his bust. A spread eagle tops the design over the ribbon "Glory to the American Nation and Her Able Officers Accomplishing This Tremendous Task," and stars are scattered around the rim and around Wilson. On the obverse, exposition buildings in miniature cover the map of North America, with the Ancon, the first ship through the canal, in the Pacific below, an airplane overhead and "San Francisco, Cal. 1915" between stars. Whitehead & Hoag signed it beside a patent date of August 1914. HK-420 is silver-plated and antiqued, 34 mm; HK-421 is bronze.
