Description
Georgia's contribution to the state fund medals of 1915 appears here in silver-plated form as HK-405a: the state seal on the reverse within the exposition legend, and on the obverse a female figure with an overflowing cornucopia striding before a low sun, under the words "For Georgia Exposition Fund." Whitehead-Hoag of Newark, New Jersey, made it. After the Panama-Pacific International Exposition closed, the Palace of Fine Arts, the only building put up to last, housed a post-exposition showing of many exhibits until October 31, 1916. Hibler and Kappen note that some state medals were silver-plated under official arrangements and some by private hands, and they do not separate the two. The size is 38 mm, as for the bronze HK-405.
