In 1914, coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint. The obverse features a female figure standing beside an anvil and the reverse displays an eagle above a shield. Produced during the Progressive Era, when President Theodore Roosevelt championed a renaissance in American coin design that produced some of the most beautiful coins ever struck.
