About This Coin
The 1908 Philippine Twenty Centavos is a United States cent from the Philippines Twenty Centavos 1903-1945 series. The obverse features a female figure standing beside an anvil, while the reverse displays an eagle above a shield. Designed by Melecio Figueroa. The Philippine Twenty Centavos was struck in silver and saw active circulation in the Philippine Islands. The design was slightly modified in 1937 with the establishment of the Philippine Commonwealth. The 1905-S is a scarce early date. WWII-era issues from the Denver and San Francisco Mints are more available.
