Description
The 1909 Doubled Die Obverse DDO-001 is a doubled die obverse (DDO) variety, where a misalignment during the die hubbing process created visible doubling on the obverse design elements. This variety was discovered on the 1909 Lincoln Wheat Cent - VDB, part of the Lincoln Wheat Cents 1909-1958 series. Die markers: UVC-1210 DMR-005 Stage A: Obverse and Reverse are EDS Stage B: Obverse is EDS Light die crack Left wheat to rim at K-9:30 – EDS Stage C: Obverse is EMDS Die crack on Reverse is stronger – EMDS UVC-1211 DMR-006 Stage D: Die crack from ear to rim through E of WE – MDS Reverse die changed – EDS Stage E: LDS (unconfirmed).
