Holding dual catalog designations as FS-301 in the Fivaz-Stanton Cherrypickers' Guide and Snow-1 in Rick Snow's Indian Head cent reference, this 1907 repunched date is the most prominent RPD for the final high-mintage year of the Indian Head cent series. The original date punching placed the digits 907 south of their final intended position, and when the date was corrected, the southward displacement of these three digits remained partially visible beneath the properly positioned numerals. This southward shift of the last three digits is the key diagnostic, observable at 5x magnification on most examples and sometimes even discernible to the unaided eye on coins with minimal wear. The 1907 Indian Head cent's mintage exceeded 108 million pieces, making it the highest-production date in the entire Indian cent series, which ran from 1859 to 1909.
