1906 (D) Barber Dime - Misplaced Date WMPD-001

Description

1906-D WMPD-001 is a misplaced date on the 1906-D Barber dime, cataloged by the Wexler team. Digit tops show in the denticles near the date: the top of a 1 just left of the 9; the tops of two 9s under the 9 and just right of it; the tops of three different 0s under the 0; and the top of a 6 between the 0 and the 6. The obverse is also a repunched date, listed by Wexler as 1906-D WRPD-001. The 1 shows light doubling above its top and above its base; the 9 is tripled, the extra impressions showing above its center and above its bottom; close doubling shows above the bottom of the 0, and inside the lower 0 there may be the top of another 0; and the 6 shows light doubling above its center and above its bottom. Wexler notes no reverse markers. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Flynn lists it as MPD-002.
