Description
1891-S VAM-3 Doubled Stars & Eyelid, Near Date Discovered by Leonard Hinckley, February 1974. Discovered, 2011. This coin is a Top 100 Morgan VAM. 3 (revised) III2 2 - C3a (Doubled Stars & Eyelid, Near Date) Obverse III2 2 - Doubled left stars towards rim, eyelid and eye front. Date set further left than normal at right edge. Reverse C3b - Die 1 – Die marker – Vertical polishing line from wing edge up between st in Trust. Die 2 – IV S mint mark at top edge of normal position. Die marker – Faint vertical polishing line from wing edge up to below s in Trust. DPIS - ;Emission Sequence :Obverse: :Reverse: Comments: # [[1891-S VAM-3 Die 2 was thought by the submitter to be the C3c reverse ([[1891-S VAM-10) and is at least very close to it. # There is an ongoing debate if the [[1891-S VAM-3 Die #3 is an LDS version of 3.1 [https://vamworld.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f4&t10182&p85989] but this has yet to be settled (October 2025).
